Darrington Jade Festival – Fly-In to 1S2, Darrington, WA
From http://darringtonjadefestival.com/ — please check for most up to date info:
Fly into Darrington Municipal 1S2 for the Darrington Jade Festival – billed as the Pacific Northwest’s premier jade gathering, with jade miners, carvers, and artists showing raw stone, finished work, demonstrations, and lapidary education. It’s a unique, family-friendly day out rooted in the region’s rock-and-mineral heritage, held at the Darrington Community Center in the heart of town.
Practical notes for pilots: the airport is day-VFR with no fuel and no services, so top off before you come and bring your own tie-downs. The community center is in town, so it’s one of the more walkable Darrington events from the field, though a folding bike or a ride still helps. Restaurants, coffee, and a grocery store are an easy walk, and the Darrington Motor Inn is right in town for an overnight. The festival runs 10 AM to 5 PM each day – check darringtonjadefestival.com for details.
Mountains, a mountain town, and a runway instead of a parking lot – come see why jade country draws rockhounds from across the Northwest.
