Tire Dolly Demo

For those who may not have heard, we recently had a couple of incidents where an aircraft was stranded on the runway or taxiway here at KRNT with a flat tire. As part of the response to this, BEFA is creating an emergency response cart for Renton Field. It will be kept in the hangar and will have critical emergency response items contained in one spot (on wheels) so that it is easy to assist the airport in rescuing a disabled airplane. More to come on the exact set up in a future newsletter. For now, I’d like to focus on the use of one of the tools that we acquired to include in this emergency response cart. BEFA has 2 tire dollies now. These tools are on caster wheels and allow the movement of an airplane with a flat tire (no jacking required!).

I will be demonstrating the use of the tire dolly on an actual aircraft on Wednesday 11/5 at 11am and again at 5pm. The demonstration will be hands on so that each person can experience using the dolly to move an airplane. I hope to see a good turn-out!
