BEFA offers primary flight instruction from instructors with decades of experience. Training can take place at KRNT, KPAE, or a combination of the two. BEFA Members can choose between a variety of aircraft for primary training such as C150, C172, RV12, and more! We recommend that members pursuing their Private Pilot Certification complete and pass a ground school course and take the FAA written exam.

Finally, you can fly for compensation!
In addition to this certification, you have the privilege of awkwardly answering your friend’s question: “Commercial pilot? For what airline?”
Commercial Certification is typically completed once you have obtained an instrument rating. Under FAR Part 61, commercial and instrument training can be done simultaneously.

Switch seats!
Instructors need to be able to teach and demonstrate everything they have learned up to this point from the right seat. Not only is it rewarding, but it makes you a better pilot. BEFA CFI’s have the unique opportunity to instruct in many different aircraft.

Skill unlocked!
CFII allows you to teach rated pilots how to fly on instruments alone. BEFA members have access to a large fleet of IFR-certified aircraft and instructors with years of instrument flying.

New sunglasses!
As an instrument-rated pilot, you can fly on an IFR flight plan in IMC conditions. Not only does this rating allow you to get through weather, but it makes you a much more competent and safe pilot.

BEFA Members have the unique opportunity to learn and rent seaplanes. We have multiple aircraft that are on floats during the warm seasons at our Renton base. Additional training is available for remote lakes and saltwater operations.
